Dorset Day Out

Too many people at Lulworth Cove for my liking. Lu and I had a nice little trip out but couldn't find the Violet Helleborines at the site where I saw them last year. Many orchid species have suffered the effects of this long hot, dry spell. Butterflies were surprisingly thin on the ground too, but it was nice to see Lulworth Skippers for the first time in years.

Durdle Dor with Portland in the background.

Lulworth Skipper - lots of these on the wing at Durdle Dor.

Brown Argus.

Chalkhill Blue.

A parched landscape from Fontmell Down.
