More YLGs and Moths

Juvenile Yellow-legged Gull.

Two more juvenile Yellow-legged Gulls today. One flew across the bay towards Dawlish Town around 6am and another was in the estuary, off Mudbank Lane this afternoon. Also today - 24+ Common Scoter and 1 Common Tern off Maer Rocks first thing, and an unseasonal Dark-bellied Brent Goose, 2 Greenshank, 1 Redshank, 40+ Dunlin, 6+ Whimbrel, 4 Mediterranean Gulls and 1 Common Gull off Mudbank. A Grey Wagtail zipped over the garden this morning early on, whilst I was doing the moth trap.

Clearly a different bird to yesterday's individual. A much darker bird with much more brown in the greater coverts.

Beautiful Knot-horn Rhodophaea Formosa

Yellow Satin Veneer - Crambus perlella

Slender Pug - one of 3 or 4 trapped last night. The others were more poorly marked. A single Ruddy Carpet was probably the most notable species trapped last night.
