Osprey


An Osprey was watched hunting the lower Exe from the garden this morning. It was present from 1030 - 1110, getting as far upriver as Powderham and heading downriver towards the Warren. Also - 12 Red-breasted Merganser, 29 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 1 Peregrine, 2 Raven, 2 Canada Geese, 1 Sandwich Tern, 1 Sparrowhawk and 2 Meadow Pipit.

  1. That was a wise move those years ago to have a house overlooking the river! I watched lots of Buzzards today over Clennon Hill, but was hoping for something a little more interesting, perhaps tomorrow..

  2. Hi Mike - sure it's just a matter of time before a Booted Eagle or something rises over Clennon Hill. Wouldn't have dreamt I'd be forced to watch from the garden all those years ago when we moved. Am still working but we're on a rota at the college so much reduced contact with others.     I have been following your website for well over a year and it has been a great source of enjoyment and amazement to me. Thank you!
    I have always been interested in birds but now look at everything a little more intently since following your record of sightings.
    Last Wednesday 25th about midday, I saw what I thought to be two osprey flying over Morton Crescent following the shoreline towards Orcombe Point.
    I may have got it wrong but since seeing your recent post I realise I may have got it right!
