The foggy dawn on the river Torridge, Lundy-bound. I was lucky enough to get a job on Lundy on Thursday. Had a fabulous day with my brother. Great to bump into Tim and Nick too.

  1. Nice Green-brindled Crescent. We had 2 melanic individuals in the traps yesterday morning. Just 15 moths of 8 species.

Harlequins seem to have much declined here. Some years back they were ubiquitous, but now just encounter a few of them.

  2. Hi Neil - have never seen (or heard of) melanic Green-brindled Crescent - is that the 'capucina' form? Just did a quick internet search. I've not seen many Harlequins lately either but there were plenty along a line of willows, locally - the most I've ever seen in fact. Perhaps just a good spell of warm weather has done the trick? All the best. Matt.

  4. Hi Tim - yep, had to do a double-take! So used to seeing you locally. Hope you had a great stay on Lundy. Will hopefully manage some proper birding on there one day. Great place. All the best. Matt.
