Osprey

Orcombe Point from dawn today - 100+ Pied Wagtails west, 150+ Meadow Pipits, 1 Golden Plover, 55+ Skylarks, 21+ Siskins, 1 Reed Bunting, 1 Little Egret, 3 Grey Wagtails, 32 Jackdaws, 1 Coal Tit, 5 Goldcrests, 3+ Bullfinches, 11+ Chaffinches, 3 Chiffchaffs, 6 Blackbirds, 3 Song Thrushes and 2 Ring-necked Parakeets.

Mudbank - 1 Osprey downriver shortly before 11am, then back upriver not long after. Also - 260+ Curlew, 1 Knot, 20 Redshank, 3 Grey Plovers, 48 Black-tailed Godwits, c40 Teal and 2 Greenshank. I didn't count the Brents but at least 1 Pale-bellied Brent Goose is still in with the flock. I couldn't summon up the enthusiasm to count the Wigeon either, but I wouldn't say the numbers have changed much over the last week or so. Nearby, at West Lodge, an adult and juvenile Moorhen were lurking quite high up in a tree. I can't recall seeing (or hearing) Moorhens at this site before.

Yesterday - Orcombe - just 20+ Pied Wagtails, c30 Meadow Pipits, 2 Reed Buntings, 3 Siskins, c70 Goldfinches, c10 Greenfinches, 18+ Chaffinches, 14 Long-tailed Tits, 1 Stonechat and 3 Redpolls.

Mudbank - 40 Turnstones, 40+ Black-tailed Godwits, 11 Redshank, 1 Greenshank, 1 Dunlin, 1 Knot, 20+ Great Crested Grebes, 78 Shelduck, 2 Pale-bellied Brent Geese and c7/800 Dark-bellied Brent Geese.

Meadow Pipit - Orcombe Point.
