Marsh Harrier

A much quieter day today, which meant I could enjoy a bank holiday with Lu in a relaxed fashion. We walked to Lympstone and had lunch by the river. A little time was spent enjoying the 'Veiges' Early Purple Orchids and a look off Mudbank produced a Marsh Harrier (an all dark individual circling high over the river at 1505), 57 Whimbrel, 12 Bar-tailed Godwits, 1 Greenshank, 1 Dunlin and 15 Curlew. In the West Lodge reedbed - 1 Reed Warbler and 1 Sedge Warbler still both singing, along with the male Reed Bunting.
All I could find on Orcombe, first thing, was a singing Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Wheatears, 2 Grey Wagtails, 1 Sedge Warbler and 4 Whimbrel, but it was really nice to meet Leon and to bump into Hilary.

My third Lesser Whitethroat in Exmouth this year - not quite as showy as the last one!
