Avocet


This Avocet was off Mudbank last light this afternoon. A flock of 14 Cattle Egrets flew into roost across the other side of the river. Also this afternoon - 12+ Ringed Plovers, 1 Kingfisher and 1 Knot, but the majority of birds (including large flocks of Dunlin) were way out on the water's edge. Earlier off there - 10+ Great Crested Grebes, 24 Bar-tailed Godwits and just 3 Red-breasted Mergansers.
At first light this morning, a flock of 12 Ring-necked Parakeets left their Maer roost and flew into Maer Valley. Off the seafront - 1 Red-throated Diver,  1 Common Scoter and a single Eider. An afternoon walk around Maer valley produced 2 Mistle Thrushes, 21+ Redwings, 5 Little Egrets and a flock of 86 Curlew.
A quick look at Orcombe Point - 1 male Blackcap, 3+ Chiffchaffs, 12 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 2 Stonechats, 7+ Cirl Buntings (slurry pit), 1 Red-legged Partridge and 25+ Skylarks.
Imperial rugby ground - 135+ Dark-bellied Brent Geese and 11 Pale-bellied Brent Geese.
Yesterday - A Great Northern Diver off Shelly beach and a Mediterranean Gull off the seafront.
