Woodlark, Coal Tits

Another nice selection from a busy Orcombe Point this morning, although it took a while for things to get going. Counting was tricky in bright, still conditions, with many birds too high up, some going east and some going west. Throw in a load of Linnets, Meadow Pipits and Pied Wagtails moving around the fields and you can probably see why I'm not super-confident with my totals! My best efforts included 1 Woodlark (in from an easterly direction at 0830 before swinging round and heading back east, 'yodeling' all the way), 9 Coal Tits, 1 Egyptian Goose, 1 Cirl Bunting, 1 Golden Plover, 1 Snipe, 1 Turnstone, 3 Reed Buntings, c115+ Pied Wagtails, 2+ Redpolls, 50+ Siskins, 80+ Meadow Pipits, 8+ Chaffinches, 4 Goldcrests, 8 Chiffchaffs, c20 Goldfinches, 1 Blackcap, 35+ Skylarks, 11 Starlings, 3 Grey Wagtails, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker and the 5 Red-legged Partridges.
Mudbank - 3 Greenshank, 53 Black-tailed Godwits, 12 Redshank, 7 Bar-tailed Godwits and 30 Little Egrets.

Male Cirl Bunting soaking up the early morning sun.

Egyptian Goose east - LORP bound?

One of this morning's highlights was an obvious movement of Coal Tits - all noisily following the 'top fields' hedgerows eastwards, and all clearly just olive-toned 'britannicus' birds.

Blair's Shoulder-knot. Had the trap out last night, for the first time in ages. Not much to report with 1 Silver Y and 1 Vestal representing the immigrant species, and typical autumn fare such as Feathered Ranunculus, Black Rustic, Beaded Chestnut and Angle Shades amongst the other stuff.
