Dorset Day-flyers

Marbled White.

I was working in Dorset early this morning but managed to combine it with some searching for butterflies and moths. I also stopped on the main road between Dorchester and Weymouth to marvel at thousands of Pyramidal Orchids on the embankment - absolutely breathtaking and well worth a look if you're passing.

Marbled White and Red Bartsia.

Clouded Yellow.

Lulworth Skipper.

Four-spotted.

I was chuffed to spot this Six-belted Clearwing 'zonked out' and roosting on some Kidney Vetch as I crouched to photograph a Pyramidal Orchid. Pure chance and very nearly passed off as a small wasp species.

Common Broomrape.

Resupinate (upside-down flowers).

The Bee Orchids are well past their best now.

Wood Tiger. Several of these beauties seen - a new one for me.

Six-spot Burnet.

Five-spot Burnets.

 Forester sp and Five-spot Burnet.

Rock Rose - lots of this present - foodplant of the Cistus Forester.

Forester agg on Salad Burnet.
