I suspect this 'Glyphipterix' species is G. schoenicolella (Bog-rush Fanner), given its chosen habitat.
Very quiet, as to be expected at this time of year as far as birds go. In the estuary today just 3 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 1 Pale-bellied Brent Goose, 3 Whimbrel, 4 Sandwich Terns, 2 Sanderling and 50+ Black-headed Gulls.
Pitcher hybrid - Sarracenia flava x Sarracenia sp. Some way off looking its best.
Heath Spotted Orchid.
Early Marsh Orchid.
Pale Butterwort.
Keeled Skimmer.
Oblong-leaved Sundew.
Round-leaved Sundew.
Incredible close-ups of the sundew. We have a small colony of Sarracenia on Chobham Common-appear to be all S. purpurea.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Neil - this particular pitcher has apparently been there years. Pretty spectacular at its best and fascinating to try and watch insects escape from it. Interesting to hear they're found elsewhere, although I seem to recall reading about some in Dorset somewhere, a while back. All the best. Matt
