A drake Ring-necked Duck was back on Blackhill Quarry today. I popped up to see it late this afternoon. Also up there - 2+ Redwing, 2 Tufted Ducks and a single Coot.
Off Mudbank this evening - 1 Peregrine, 1 Greenshank, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 4 Redshank and a drake Wigeon.

Beautifully calm and still off Mudbank this evening. Few birds.
Such smart ducks! Seems to be something of a record season for them. Noticed in Birdwatch magazine where they were contemplating the next UK breeding species this was named as one of the outsiders. I think good money is on for Glossy Ibis-will this be the year?
ReplyDeleteHi Neil - yes agree with Glossy Ibis. Will keep eyes peeled for a female Ring-necked Duck up at Blackhill...
ReplyDeleteAll the best.
