At least 40 Kittiwakes are back on ledges at Sandy Bay. Nearby on Orcombe Point, early this morning - 1 Chiffchaff, 1 White Wagtail, 30+ Pied Wagtail, 1 Stonechat, 5 Golden Plovers (over west) and a handful of Meadow Pipits on the move.
On Maer Rocks - 6 Purple Sandpipers, 8 Turnstones and 64 Dark-bellied Brent Geese.
Off Mudbank - 6 Red-breasted Mergansers.
Three-cornered Garlic - I found a patch of this along Gipsy Lane. Another new one for me.
Lovely to see those Kittiwakes , Matt. Obviously a species I don't see often around London. In fact I can only recall seeing one at the London Wetland Centre.
ReplyDeleteThree-cornered Leek looks attractive- good to eat if you like garlic but it is a pretty invasive thug. I first encountered it many years ago in Cornwall & on Scilly. These days pretty common in London & can be a real thug in gardens. I'm amazed to still see it advertised for sale.
Thanks Neil - think I must have spent my entire life thinking that these were Snowdrops. Guessing it's the buld you eat like a garlic? These were beside a pavement so not overly keen to eat 'em! Take care. Matt
ReplyDeleteYou can eat the leaves in a salad, soup, etc Matt. Occasionally I've just eaten some leaves picked fresh.
