Firecrest - Bystock.

Maer Rocks - just after dawn - 9 Purple Sandpipers, 2 Great Northern Divers, 1 Red-throated Diver, 1 Great Crested Grebe and 32 Dark-bellied Brent Geese.
Mudbank - 1 Mediterranean Gull, 1 juvenile Spoonbill, 230+ Teal, 40 Grey Plovers, 2 Greenshank, 3 Knot, 5 Red-breasted Mergansers, 32 Redshank, 1 Kingfisher and 3 Goldeneyes (all female types).
Bystock - 1 Kingfisher, 1 Dartford Warbler, 1 Stock Dove, 2 Jays, 1 Firecrest and 2 flocks of Redwing totaling 26 birds with many more calling from deep cover, around the wood edges.

Mediterranean Gull - Mudbank.

A pair of Ring-necked Parakeets was at West Lodge, just within the grounds of Lympstone Manor.

The juvenile Spoonbill has been off Mudbank all day - often showing really well.

Good numbers of waders off Mudbank today with lots of Turnstones, hundreds of Dunlin, 60+ Redshank, 2 Greenshank, 4 Snipe, 55+ Grey Plovers, 3 Bar-tailed Godwits, 6 Knot and the usual Curlews and Oystercatchers. Also off there - 1 Spoonbill, 1 Kingfisher, 60+ Teal, 200+ Pintail, 6 Red-breasted Mergansers, 142 Shelducks and a few Wigeon, Mallard and Brent Geese. 

The 3 Red-legged Partridges and a Chiffchaff were all I could find in the dung field, on Orcombe, and in Maer Valley - 85+ Curlew, 2 Mistle Thrushes, 1 Chiffchaff and c20+ Redwings.

I couldn't find any wintering Firecrests in Liverton Copse but a short visit did produce at least 70 Redwings and a Peregrine over, with one or two Treecreepers, Nuthatches, Bullfinches and Goldcrests loosely associating with a sizeable tit flock.

A male Black Redstart was in the Shelly Beach area and 5 Purple Sandpipers, 5 Turnstones and 7 Brent Geese were logged during a quick look at Maer Rocks.

The Black Redstart was again in the Shelly Beach area this afternoon.

Purps

Spent the last vestiges of daylight with 11 Purple Sandpipers on Maer Rocks. Nearby, 7 Snipe, 2 Mistle Thrushes, 1 Stonechat and a Chiffchaff on Orcombe, and the Spoonbill still off Mudbank.

Rock Pipits

The juvenile Spoonbill was off Mudbank this evening. The above photo was taken yesterday.

Yesterday the Spoonbill was again showing well as the tide dropped. Really good to catch up with Keith yesterday. Off the seafront - 3 Red-throated Divers early on. 
Lu, Maisie and I walked the dog along the beach at Sandy Bay where 9 Rock Pipits, 1 or 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Stonechats, 4 Mistle Thrushes and a Grey Wagtail were noted.

Nine Rock Pipits is the most I've ever seen on the beach at Sandy Bay.

Knot

A single Knot was off Mudbank just before dark yesterday evening. Also the Spoonbill still and a Mediterranean Gull.

A single Cattle Egret was again in with cattle along Maer Lane first thing, before flying towards the town. An adult Mediterranean Gull was also present, along with a few Black-headed Gulls and a good-sized Pied Wagtail flock.

Grey Plover - Mudbank.

Only two quick trips out today - early morning and just before dark. The juvenile Spoonbill  was present both times and has presumably been off Mudbank all day. Otherwise -  couldn't seen the Black-necked Grebes today but 3 Mistle Thrushes flew west over the Shelly Beach area.

Spoonbill

An immature Spoonbill off Mudbank this evening - the eighth one this year, off there. 

Presumed 'Scandanavian'/'Northern' Herring Gull showing very limited scapular moult.
