After singing from total concealment the last few days the male Blackcap, at the back of our house, became quite brazen today and showed beautifully on and off.
Today's back garden list included 1 male Tufted Duck, 9 Red-breasted Merganser, 6 Whimbrel, 6 Sandwich Tern, 6 Canada Goose, 1 Osprey, 10 Turnstone, c20+ Cattle Egret, 1 Sparrowhawk, c20+ Little Egret, 4 Black-headed Gull, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 3+ Mute Swan, 25 Common Gull, 13 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 7+ Grey Heron, 2 Shelduck, 6 Raven and 2 Dark-bellied Brent Goose.
The Osprey put in an early and a late performance today, appearing at 0650 and 1700, successfully fishing on each occasion.
Not sure if this is Common or Grey Seal. It was hauled out on a pontoon for quite some time this morning. Seals are not an uncommon sight from the garden but it's usually just their nose that's visible.
