Devon Finds

I've swapped my 'Devon list' page for this page. My focus, for almost as many years as I can remember,  has been on finding my own birds in Devon, in preference to twitching other peoples' birds. This focus has now very much switched to what I can find within the Exmouth parish, and I'm less inclined to twitch (or bird elsewhere) than ever.
Below are the birds I've found in mainland Devon  - where possible with photos and/or field notes, along with details of acceptance, in the case of BBRC species. All rare and scarce species have been accepted by the relevant committees except of course the recent ones that are still in circulation. Integrity is important to me when it comes to a 'finds' list so I obviously haven't included any 'not accepted' records and I don't include birds other people have found already! In other words I've been the first person to clap eyes on each one.
I don't include returning birds or birds on known breeding or wintering ground and I don't include 'accepted same as...' records because that means it's already been found by someone else, somewhere else!

Mute Swan

Whooper Swan - Orcombe Point 1/10/22. The only one I've found - this bird drew attention with a 'honk' as I was walking the top fields. I managed just a few record shots as it flew away from me, towards the estuary.
