More Cirls

Three of four newly-discovered Cirl Buntings along Exmouth seafront. Dawlish Warren is in the background and it's from there that these birds may well have originated.

Three Cirl Buntings are still hiding in the hedge near the dung heap, and in the immediate area I counted c50/60+ Skylark, c5/10+ Meadow Pipit, 1 Snipe, c40/50+ Pied Wagtail and a single Grey Wagtail.
Off Maer Rocks - 1 Red-throated Diver, 40 Dark-bellied Brent Geese and a Guillemot. Whilst scanning I picked up the calls of Cirl Buntings behind me and immediately picked up a male and three female types sat in tamarisks. Seven Cirls in Exmouth in a day is unprecedented and hopefully a sign that breeding within the parish boundary is just around the corner.
The adult male Black Redstart is favouring Leeward Court, behind Shelly Beach, and off Mudbank I recorded 3 Goldeneye, 90 Pintail, 40+ Common Gull and 11 Sanderling.

Two of the three Cirls spent some time on the beach huts and the male sang from Holm Oaks bordering the cricket club.
