Hen Harrier

Exmouth Quay

A quick pre-breakfast scan from the raised beach huts produced 2 Red-throated Divers and 2 Great Northern Divers. Also 2 Curlew and a first-winter Mediterranean Gull. An adult Mediterranean Gull was off Mudbank and a family dog-walk along the beach, from Orcombe to Sandy Bay, produced a cliff-top Black Redstart and a Peregrine.
A late afternoon/dusk watch below Woodbury Fort revealed a/the juvenile Hen Harrier but otherwise there were few birds with just 1 Redpoll, 1 Mistle Thrush, a handful of Meadow Pipits, Pied Wagtails, Chaffinches and c15+ Fieldfare noted.

Mediterranean Gull - Mudbank - a ringed bird but no details seen.

Peregrine between Orcombe and Sandy Bay. A Black Redstart was flitting around just feet away from this bird which was sheltering from a strong north-westerly.

Woodbury Common late this afternoon, just before a heavy rain shower and a Hen Harrier!
