Petty Whin

I met up with Lesley and Pete this afternoon, after work. They very kindly took me to see Petty Whin - a plant I've been hoping to see for a while. It's found on Aylesbeare Common but I don't think there's any way I'd have located it without help. Many thanks to Lesley and Pete.

Petty Whin - seed pod.

Creeping Willow.

Knot Grass caterpillar feeding on Creeping Willow.

Allseed Radiola linoides - a different species to the Four-leaved Allseed Polycarpon tetraphyllum that grows on Carter Avenue and the seafront in Exmouth.

Slow Worm.

Toad Rush.

Jointed Rush.

Heath Spotted Orchids are still going strong in wetter areas.

I counted 24 Broad-leaved Helleborines along Wright's Lane yesterday evening. That's seven more than I counted last year and none are actually in flower yet. Hopes are high for more to come.

Pearl Grass-veneer Catoptria pinella.
