Bonaparte's Gull

The kids and I walked the dog around Shelly Beach and the mudflats mid morning, whilst Lu was at work. The sun was out and the winter sunshine was thoroughly appreciated. We were 'buzzed' a couple times by the adult Bonaparte's Gull that was feeding in tern-like fashion along the shoreline.
Very little else to report apart from a Peregrine hunting the mudflats and the usual Red-breasted Mergansers and Brent Geese. Also the 2 wintering Chiffchaffs are still present at the back of our house, in scrub bordering Warren View.

Powderham Corner in the background.

It's interesting how this bird chooses to feed alone. It was frequenting this same area earlier on in the year and I suspect it will be fairly straightforward to catch up with in this area in the coming weeks, provided you hit the tide right.
