At last - an obliging juvenile yellow-legged gull. Knowing that the beach would be busy I very nearly didn't check it, but sat amongst the many people enjoying the evening sun, close to the Lifeboat Station, was a small group of large gulls and with them, this beauty. It tolerated a close approach and even wing-stretched for me. A wonderful encounter. As with med gulls, I just can't tire of seeing these birds.
Hi Matt, smart bird and great photos. And a really fresh-looking bird - my last looked a good deal more worn than this. I'd love to know exactly where these are coming from - apparently from somewhere nobody colour-rings gulls?
ReplyDeleteHi Tim. Thank you for your comments. I was chuffed to be able to get so close and to get decent light. That never normally happens. Hopefully it's just a matter of time before one turns up with a ring, but no doubt it will be sat half a mile out on a sandbar. Good to hear from you. All the best,Matt
ReplyDeleteAgree with Tim very nice photos! make sure you submit them for the Devon Bird Report.
