Exmouth Lunar Hornets

I tried the Lunar Hornet Moth lure at the newly-discovered Castle Lane pond. Within just a couple minutes I had a couple individuals, buzzing around the lure. Presumably there's a good-sized population there, as I only tried the first Sallow I came to. Fantastic to get them in Exmouth!

This is the second of this morning's pair. Note the marked differences in abdomen pattern.

Off Mudbank today - 26 Mallard, 2 Canada Geese, 2 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 3+ Mediterranean Gulls, 18+ Whimbrel, 2 Knot, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit and c40 Sandwich Terns. A Hobby was over the back garden mid-afternoon (plucking what looked like a hirundine sp) and off the seafront first thing - 1 Redshank and c60 Sandwich Terns.
Yesterday - off Mudbank - 4 Whimbrel, 2 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 8 Mallard, 2 Knot, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits and 8+ Mediterranean Gulls.

Six-spot Burnet.

My first Clouded Yellow of the summer. I played a game of 'cat and mouse' with this one before it finally paused long enough, in the Castle Lane clearfell area.

Three of yesterday's six Common Sandpipers - Maer Rocks. There were seven off there the day before.

Hobby from the back garden.

Black Arches.

Buff Footman.
