Hummingbird Hawkmoth

Hummingbird Hawkmoth caterpillar - purple-brown so about to pupate. Discovered on the bank below the raised beach huts. One great northern diver and a distant skua sp the only birds of note.

  1. Nice one. Certainly a lot easier to photograph than the imago!

  2. Hi Andrew - very true! I was quite pleased to find it. I don't recall ever seeing the larvae before. I'm really after death's head hawk so if you ever trap one or hear of one please let me know!

  3. If I got a Death's Head, the whole world will know about it!

Let me know if you find one too!
