Late afternoon on an incoming tide - 4+ great crested grebe, c70+ teal (high count), 19+ red-breasted merganser, 175+ pintail (high count), 1 rock pipit, 2 greenshank, 1 kingfisher, 72+ turnstone, 1 grey plover, 60+ redshank, 1 knot, 3 ringed plover. There are good numbers of dunlin around but I didn't attempt to count them - probably at least 3/400+. Still plenty of wigeon and dark-bellied brent goose but few gulls to look through. Wader numbers are good at the moment. A constant source of frustration for me is that in spring and autumn, when rarer species are more likely to turn up, the waders seem to abandon Mudbank in favour of the Warren and Bowling Green.
